Warnings
- Discontinue if conception occurs
- Due to Licorice:
- Caution is advised in those taking thiazide or loop diuretics
- Caution in individuals with elevated liver enzymes taking immunosuppressants
- Contraindicated in hypertension and oedema
- Dietary supplements should not replace a balanced diet
- Patients taking high doses of St John's Wort:
- Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or artificial UVA light
- Use cautiously in patients with known photosensitivity or those taking photosensitising agents
- St John's Wort affects the way many prescription medicines work, including the oral contraceptive pill
